Blog from Dave our Head Bike Mechanic

HOW TO OPTIMISE
BATTERY RANGE
Cadences above 50 RPM (revolutions per minute) are more efficient on the drive unit Weight increases contribute to more load on the drive unit, which reduces the range Starting and stopping frequently is less efficient than constant riding Choosing the correct gear is important. For example, use low gears for riding up hills or starting from a stop For longer range, inflate the tyres to the maximum recommended tyre pressure Lower temperature decreases the efficiency of the battery. You can store the battery in a warm area of your house to reduce the effects of the cold during winter months

HOW TO LOOK AFTER
COMPONENTS
Don't leave the bike in the smallest cog. If you want to increase the life of your chain and gear cassette, make sure you don't stay in one gear. Smoother gear shifting will help to increase the life of the chain and cassettes. Easing off the pressure on the pedals while changing gears will decrease the load on the chain while shifting gear. Regularly clean your bike Keep the chain clean and lubed. A dirty or dry chain will wear out quicker and will use more battery. A chain cleaning device, such as Muc-off's can make this a painless task.

LOOKING AFTER YOUR
BATTERY
When storing a battery for a long time, make sure it is not fully charged or discharged. It is best to store the battery when it is approximately 40 to 80% charge. When to recharge the battery. Try to avoid small top up charges, charge the battery when it is closer to 30% left?

WHEN TO BOOK A
SERVICE
1st service: 6 weeks or 400km Dave will let you know when to service following this 1st service

CORRECT TYRE
PRESSURE
Keep your tyres inflated. We recommend using a floor pump at home and carrying a hand pump in case of emergencies. The benefits of a floor pump are a large volume air chamber to fill the tyre quicker and easier compared to a hand pump and a pressure gauge lets you check if the tyres are at the correct pressure. As a general rule of thumb: lower pressures offer more grip in dirt, but less efficiency. Higher pressures offer higher efficiency, but less grip in dirt. Very low pressures will cause damage and punctures.

A Blog from Mike our Head Scooter Technician

GETTING THE MOST OUR OF YOUR
E-SCOOTER

Keep the acceleration of the scooter on soft start. It will give you a safer ride and more range. Turn on the regen braking. This reduces the pressure on your brakes and increases range. Regular servicing helps to keep the ride efficient and safe for roads. Keep your tyres pumped up. Only use the charger that came with your specific scooter. Aftermarket chargers can reduce the life of the battery.

IMPORTANT
REMINDERS
Riding in the rain. These scooters are not waterproof and controllers and batteries could easily be damaged with water, we see this all too often. To change the parameter settings on your own we recommend bringing the scooter in to get the settings adjusted. Our team is always happy to help with adjustments and changes, we don't recommend trying to repair your own E-Scooter without proper electrical expertise. Going fast over the bumps and curbs can cause imbalance, damage to the wheels and can cause accidents.

LOOKING AFTER YOUR
BATTERY
When storing your scooter away for a long time, make sure it is not fully charged. It is best to store around 40-80% charge. Try to avoid small top up charges. Rather, charge the battery all the way when dropped down to about 20%. Try to keep the battery warm by keeping the scooter inside a warm and dry room during winter months. Li-ion batteries don't like cold weather.

WHEN TO BOOK A
SERVICE
1st service: 2 months or 200km Mike will let you know when to service following this 1st service

CORRECT TYRE
PRESSURE
Keep your tyres pumped up to the max recommended pressure all the time. You can find the details on the tyres of your scooter or you can ask any of our team members. Pumped up tyres will give you the ideal ride quality, avoid pinch flats in case of tube type tyres and avoid damage to the bead and structure in the case of tubeless tyres. In the case of off-road rides, it is recommended to keep the tyre pressure slightly lower to get more traction.
